Pursuant to KRS 61.870 to 61.884, the public is notified that the public records of the City of Prospect are open to inspection by any resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The principal office of the City of Prospect is Prospect City Hall, 9200 US Hwy 42, Prospect KY. Regular office hours are Monday 8:30 am - 6:30 pm, Tuesday through Thursday 8:30 am - 5 pm, and Friday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Guidelines to submit an open records request:
- A request to inspect records must be made in writing/electronically, and include your first and last name, contact information, description of records you wish to inspect, and a statement that you are a resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, per KRS 61.870.(10).
- Requests should utilize the standardized form created by the Office of the Attorney General: https://www.ag.ky.gov/Resources/orom/Pages/default.aspx
- Requests may be made in inspect public records during normal business hours for the City of Prospect.
- The Requester may be charged for the actual cost of media in which copies of public records are provided. Paper copies are 10ยข per page. Media may also include flash drives, compact discs, DVDs and/or external hard drives. If copies of the records requested are provided on one of these medias, the Requestor is charged the actual cost of media. Fees may also be incurred for any mechanical processing required to provide the Requestor with copies of public records. Any Requestor that resides outside of the county requesting mailed copies shall also pay the cost of postage for mailing such copies. The Requester will be notified of the cost for providing copies of the public records prior to receiving the records. These costs must be prepaid before release of records.
- If it appears that a request is for commercial purpose as defined by KRS 61.870(4), the Requester will be asked to provide a certified statement identifying the commercial purpose for which the records will be used. Requesters of commercial purpose public records are required to pay for the actual cost of compiling, reviewing, and redacting the public records before they are released to the Requester. These costs include staff time of the person(s) fulfilling the request.
