Winter Storm Update

Posted on January 5, 2025

Be advised that the city's contractor, Greenscapes, has been plowing city owned roads since the onset of this winter storm.  Hills and thoroughfares take priority for public safety personnel access.   It will take multiple passes through the city before all roads are cleared.  (Please note the city can not plow nor treat state roads, such as River Road and U.S. Hwy 42, those roads are managed by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet).

If you do not need to travel you should not drive anywhere until the state of emergency has passed.    For those who must travel, please be prepared for extended travel times and be prepared for a winter emergency by following these driving tips

You can check current road conditions by visiting: https://goky.ky.gov .

To report an electrical outage call LG&E at 502-589-1444 or 800-331-7370 (fast path 1-1-2)

You can check on the status of an electrical outage by viewing LG&E's outage map.

Call 9-11 if you have an emergency.

We understand that many driveways have been blocked by the significant amount of snow plowed from city streets.  It is the city's priority and responsibility to keep streets clear for emergency personnel, however the city is not responsible, nor does the city have the manpower to clear each homeowner's driveway.  Unfortunately it is a homeowners responsibility to clear their drive.  We understand this task is a significant burden and regret not being able to help.  Please seek out assistance from your neighbors and friends, and do not over exert yourself if you have health issues.

Please stay safe and thank you for your patience!
